The Policy Officer position is located in the small Harm Reduction team in the Drug Policy and Reform Unit, responsible for oversight of high quality state funded alcohol and other drug harm reduction services across the state, including the medically supervised injecting room.
The role requires initiative, an ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong written communication skills, high quality organisational skills and the ability to conduct research into leading practice harm reduction initiatives.
Responsibilities include implementation of government commitments and budget initiatives, ministerial and executive briefings, and collaboration with the department's operational divisions on the management of state-funded harm reduction services. The position works closely with partners across the department, other government departments and the harm reduction sector to deliver a range of programs and initiatives.
