Job Description:

APS6 Legal & Policy Officer 
                                   $77,950 to $89,275 plus 15.4% superannuation
                      Temporary role with possibility of becoming permanent
                                   May be located in Sydney or Melbourne
 
Legal & Policy Officers work as part of a team delivering a range of legal, policy and other services for the AAT, including participating in practice and procedure projects.

The Legal and Policy section is responsible for providing advice to the Tribunal’s senior leaders on a diverse range of legal and policy issues, developing and maintaining practice and procedure documents, legal instruments and public information products, monitoring appeals and litigation to which the Tribunal is a party and compliance with the legal and regulatory requirements of the Tribunal, including responding to freedom of information and privacy requests.

Our ideal candidate will have legal qualifications, possess well-developed communication, legal research, analytical and problem solving skills. They will have the ability to apply legislation, well developed organisational skills and work well within a small, busy team. Experience in handling freedom of information and privacy matters is desirable.

Notes:
You must possess tertiary qualifications in law. Admission as an Australian lawyer in an Australian state or territory is desirable.

A non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for a specific term of up to 12 months, with a possibility of either extension or the engagement
being made ongoing. 

An order of merit established through this selection process may be used to fill this or future similar vacancies on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis.
