Business unit

Legal and Governance forms part of the Group functions within AMP. The L&G team provides a comprehensive range of support services to all AMP business lines.

Dispute Resolution & Regulatory Engagement is responsible for the management of all major disputes and litigation as well as regulatory engagement across the AMP Group. This includes advice on complex claims, response to regulator notices and advice, support and training to various AMP business units.

Purpose of the Role

Is to provide key legal services relating to disputes, litigation and regulatory engagement in relation to AMP’s advice, superannuation and insurance businesses.

More specifically the role is responsible for but not limited to:

Provide the AMP business units (Advice, Superannuation, Insurance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Operations) with legal advice, support and representation in relation to dispute resolution and regulatory engagement

  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in commercial disputes and litigation.
  • Litigation and dispute resolution arising from financial advice, remediation and regulatory interactions
  • Work effectively with business areas/stakeholders in the delivery of legal advice in relation to dispute resolution and regulatory engagement.
  • Identify and understand AMP’s business strategies and priorities and provide appropriate and relevant legal advice
  • Keep up to date with legal changes in the financial services industry
  • Communicate with stakeholders around key financial services legal developments and potential risks.
  • To be successful in this role you will be an exceptional communicator, stakeholder manager results driven and excellent problem solver and decision maker.

You will also possess the following:

  • Degree in Law.
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a relevant legal practising certificate in New South Wales
  • Ideally 3 - 8 years relevant experience obtained either in-house or in private practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide commercially focussed legal advice.
  • Solid financial services legal experience and working knowledge of the financial services industry and regulatory regime.
  • Experience in dealing with financial services regulators and managing a broad range of internal and external stakeholder
  • Well-developed dispute and litigation skills developed in-house or in private practice.
  • Broad knowledge of Banking, Financial Services, Life Insurance and Superannuation industries.
  • Solid understanding of risk management concepts and practices
