The Legal Services Group is responsible for the full range of legal services to all areas of the University. The Legal Services Group is committed to providing high quality legal services that are aligned and responsive to the commercial and academic needs of RMIT.

The Role & Your Responsibilities

As Legal Counsel you will support the Senior Legal Counsel as a point of contact for users of legal services within RMIT’s portfolios of Research and Global delivering high quality legal advice in a timely and service focused manner. This includes legal and strategic advice and support to Research and Global in the negotiation, drafting and development of high-value, complex agreements, policies, tender documents and all related legal documents required. You will develop and maintain productive and positive working relationships with key stakeholders and their teams.

Skills & Experience Required

You will have experience as a senior lawyer in IP and research contracting, working on complex and significant transactions with enterprise-wide application and influence. You will have experience negotiating, drafting and advising on a range of research agreements. You will have demonstrable experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and a proven ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality in a diplomatic manner, with the ability to influence others. A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to work autonomously in a fast moving environment will see you succeed in this role.

A current practising certificate as an Australian lawyer under the Legal Profession Uniform Law is mandatory.
