Closing On: Sunday, 31st March 2019
Category: Legal
Location: NSW
Job Type:
Full Time
Education: Law Student

Job Description:

We're looking for a law student with advanced writing skills and a strong academic background to join our growing team.

There will be legal research and broader paralegal work associated with the role, including drafting, amending and collating documents, filing court applications and a variety of tasks to assist the lawyers on a daily basis.
Additionally, the role involves producing legal content for our website, including blog articles and other related material.

You will be working directly with lawyers (including very senior practitioners) and be given a far greater degree of responsibility than you can expect working in a larger firm. At the same time you will receive expert and personal supervision from our senior lawyers and flexibility with your studies.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a law student with an interest in commercial law, particularly in the construction and/or technology sectors.

This is an ongoing role, with the potential to transition into a legal position for the right candidate.

Turtons is a boutique commercial law firm with a focus on the construction and technology industries. As a small firm, we offer a number of things that bigger firms can't. A collegiate environment. Reasonable hours. A wide range of things to work on. An opportunity to get involved and make a real difference.

To apply you must:
• have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate study (whether in law or otherwise), and be at least 18 months away from completing your law degree;
• be a strong analytical thinker with effective oral and written communication skills, which should be reflected in your academic record (strong grades are expected);
• have a pro-active attitude and be willing to take initiative;
• have attention to detail;
• be able to prioritise and communicate with the team and clients;
• have creative and practical problem solving skills;
• have prior experience in an office environment;
• be available to work at least 4 days per week. There will be opportunities to work additional hours during university holidays and we can be flexible around university exams.

If you’re ready to join us, head to turtons.com/careers and submit your application via the Paralegal link.
