Job Description:

The Role

CUB are currently looking for a highly motivated, passionate and influencing Legal Counsel to join our team in Southbank. You will be responsible for providing commercial legal advice to the sales and marketing functions as well as managing the IP portfolio and provide broader support in the management of IP issues related to Australia and New Zealand. You will also manage CUB’s trade promotions activities with the support from external providers.

Other key accountabilities will be

• Provide legal expertise and apply independent judgement to ensure that the day-to-day operations of the Commercial teams of CUB are compliant with all laws
• Supporting the management of disputes with customers and suppliers
• Drafting and negotiating a broad range of Sales related documents and agreements, including customer agreements, equipment loan agreements and sponsorship agreements
• Advising on the registration, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement of CUB’s IP portfolio – including trademarks, patents, designs and domain names
• Promoting CUB’s compliance and ethics program

Success in this role looks like providing prompt and accurate commercial legal advice to assists the business to achieve their desire outcome in a legally compliant manner while quickly building and maintaining strong relationships across a number of teams.

About You

You bring your expertise that you’ve gained from partnering with a sales and marketing function for a minimum of 2 years post qualification. Previous experience in intellectual property law is essential and exposure to competition law is seen as an asset. You are currently working within a well-regarded law firm seeking to make the move to an in-house team or possibly already in an in-house team from a large corporation looking for a new challenge. You are qualified to practice as a solicitor in Victoria with a current

Legal Practicing Certificate. You have the ability to make decisions and accept accountability with minimal supervision.
