About The Role
The Legal Counsel will join the Corporate & Commercial legal team which is responsible for providing legal services to multiple business units and head office support units across the BOQ Group. These include BOQ Business, BOQ Finance, Virgin Money Australia, St Andrews and Strategic Sourcing.
Supporting the Senior Legal Counsel, you will act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic input and legal solutions for BOQ Business (commercial lending), BOQ Finance (asset/structured finance) and Virgin Money Australia (consumer lending). From time to time, there will also be a requirement to assist with strategic projects and provide general legal advice to other business units serviced by the Corporate & Commercial legal team.
The role will require a broad skillset with the ability to provide professional and high quality advice including:
Strong commercial legal skillset with the ability to advise on a range of third party contracts
Proven experience with advising on, negotiation and drafting of regulated and commercial lending and security documentation.
This position will be required to be admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia and have at least 3 years’ experience, including in private practice. The Legal Counsel will be required to work autonomously and as part of a team, working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel and as part of wider BOQ project teams from time to time.
