Our in-house Legal team provide legal advice and assistance across a wide range of legal matters and support our organisation to meet our obligations under relevant laws and regulations ensuring our focus meeting our humanitarian objectives.

The role

Reporting to our Head of Legal, this full time role will focus on supporting the Marketing & Fundraising and Finance Directorates in conjunction with supporting internal stakeholders with respect to privacy obligations across the whole of organisation. You will also work closely with the Head of Legal to drive the continued evolution of the Legal & Policy team and empowerment of our internal clients in establishing appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks enabling Red Cross leaders and people to meet our obligations. You will also have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of legal matters as part of a small team supporting internal clients.

About you

  • Significant experience in an in-house environment especially in marketing of goods and services as well as privacy laws across federal and state / territory environments
  • Established ability to shape in-house legal teams to be trusted business partners focusing on high risk issues while supporting our internal clients to manage low risk issues
  • Experience in fundraising and gaming laws across the states / territories as they apply to charitable organisations; property law and tax law is highly desirable, although not essential
  • Proven track record in providing legally sound, independent, timely and practically appropriate legal advice
  • Established capacity and willingness to adapt and develop legal skill and expertise in other key legal subject matter fields
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making ability
  • Highly developed and effective communication, collaboration and influencing skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, managing multiple and complex tasks
