We are currently seeking a Legal Counsel to join our Sydney-based in-house legal team. Reporting to the Group Legal Counsel, this role will be dedicated to supporting the local and regional procurement teams, working closely with heads of, as well as each of the business units.
In this busy and rewarding role you will be a key source of legal knowledge to the procurement team, contributing to implementation, monitoring and review of legal aspects and activities and communicate organisational policies and legal updates to ensure operations comply with established organisational policies and legal requirements, rules, regulations and laws.
Providing input and contribute to the transactional and litigation matters and standard precedents to align to and achieve legal integrity, analyse, review, evaluate and research legal data and requirements to provide solutions for legal problems and potential risks, and develop and implement alternative solutions and maintain internal and external relationships which may include contracted external consultants;
Coupled with a tertiary education in law, this role requires strong contract drafting and negotiation skills and a good grasp on relevant legislation is key as well as a collaborative nature, comfortable working in a close team environment who is able to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business and regions. Experience working in the procurement space for a large multinational firm or a top tier construction or property company in an in-house role is desirable but not necessary.
