This 18-month Program is open to high-performing law graduates. It offers three rotations in legal teams within different agencies, where you will work in areas such as policy, litigation and advice, while completing a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.


When you successfully complete the Program, you are offered ongoing (permanent) employment at the Legal Officer Grade 1 (4th year) and may seek to be admitted as a Solicitor.

 

Graduates receive a competitive remuneration package of approximately $80,275 which includes a salary ($72,418), employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Let’s see if you meet the 2020 Program eligibility requirements for the legal stream:


Have you completed a legal undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the last two years (from June 2017 onwards) or will you complete your degree by December 2019?


Are you willing to complete your Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice?

Are you either:
o An Australian citizen

o A permanent resident of Australia

o A New Zealand citizen with a current New Zealand passport, or

o The holder of a current visa that allows you to work full-time in Australia until at least August 2021?

 

You are able to commence work on 10 February 2020.


Congratulations - you meet the requirements and can now apply to the legal stream.


To get started, fill in the online application form - this will capture all the information we need including your experience and qualifications (no attachments are required).


The following questions must be answered as a part of your application – please use examples from your work, education and life experiences.


1. Please describe how you have demonstrated the NSW Public Sector values in your work or studies. In your response, please outline how your previous experience demonstrates your suitability for the graduate program.

2. Describe a time when you responded to a situation where a colleague or fellow student was not abiding by relevant rules, policies, procedures or codes of conduct. What actions did you take?

 

A helpful hint is to type your responses in a Word document and then paste it into the online application form. Each response is limited to 300 words. Read through the Graduate Program website for more information about the full application process, as well as the Legal Graduate Role Description.
