Full time maximum term position based in Shepparton (part-time considered)
Salary commensurate with experience, range: $68,339 – $88,435 (pro rata) plus superannuation

About the role:
You will act as an advocate by providing legal advice and conducting casework in civil law matters including mental health, social security, tenancy, debt and infringements and discrimination.
Appearing as a lawyer in the Mental Health Review Board and Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) you will effectively represent and advocate for clients with civil and human rights issues. You will also engage with local partner agencies to promote and develop the Goulburn north-east Civil practice.
You have strong advocacy and casework experience and sound knowledge of civil law procedures. You have a passion for advocating for clients in civil matters and the capacity to communicate effectively with clients who are socially and economically disadvantaged. You are a strong relationship builder who will positively engage with key partner agencies and/or their workers to appropriately manage referrals and to promote the service within community settings.
