Job Description:


BCG's Legal Counsel will be an exceptional lawyer, able to work at speed, with substantial experience in advising on, negotiating and documenting large scale programmes with a commercial approach to both developing strategy and delivery.


  • Serving as a champion of BCG contracting and risk management standards across the consulting and digital businesses (GAMMA, Digital Ventures, Platinion and DAS).
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide array of commercial agreements, including master services agreements, client contracts, procurement agreements, licensing agreements, contractor agreements and non-disclosure agreements; a particular focus on public sector and government contracts and local contracting norms.
  • Quickly and independently drafting legal documents.
  • Implementing and helping to develop and champion BCG contracting and other policies and processes and provide assistance to seek approvals on deviations of contract or other policies.
  • Providing general counseling and management of a full spectrum of business and legal issues which, in addition to licensing and intellectual property matters, may include transaction structuring and support, human resources and employment matters, data protection, competition law and trade regulations and conflicts of interests.
  • Identifying legal and commercial risks and issues for the business and propose solutions for managing.  
  • Teaming successfully across BCG and integrate fully into BCG's Global Legal Team to resolve or support resolution of complex legal issues;
  • Acting as bridge and point of contact between functions and business for resolving legal issues.
  • Contributing to development and maintainance of Legal Team know-how and templates.
  • Managing and directing consulting teams to ensure compliance with privacy laws including General Data Protections Regulations (GDPR) and data security. Conducting investigations in the event of data breaches and reporting findings and recommendations for improvements.
  • Managing company secretarial responsibilities and compliance  for all local entities in Australia and New Zealand
  • Managing relationships with external counsel
  • Other duties as assigned or required



  • Degree in Law from an accredited law school and admitted to practice;
  • Several years of commercial contracting experience with international exposure;
  • Several years with a reputable law firm preferable; prior relevant in-house experience preferred;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Superior analytical skills and creative problem solving ability, with an appreciation for striking a practical balance between business and legal objectives.
  • Talent for absorbing new skill sets and areas of expertise quickly and comfortably and the flexibility to deal with a diverse international set of clients and advisors.
  • The ability to quickly comprehend complex sets of international laws and regulations and interpret those laws within the context of BCG's global policies.
  • A positive, dynamic, client-focused approach to legal practice.
  • Perform successfully and produce results in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, client-oriented environment.
  • Be a pragmatic, high-energy professional, with personal and professional self-confidence.

A variety of cohorts and functions across the company, including senior leadership. Member of the BCG Global Legal team and close partnership with Finance and the consulting cohort. You will report into the commercial group within the Legal Team and to the Managing Partner for Australia and New Zealand.
