About the role:
Reporting to the General Manager Retail Governance, as our Legal Counsel (Retail) you will be responsible for providing legal services to the Hydro Tasmania Group with a focus on supporting Momentum Energy.
Working collaboratively with other members of the Legal Services Team and the broader business, you’ll provide independent legal advice, undertaking drafting and negotiating of contracts and other legal documents as required. Proactive and collaborative, you’ll ensure the business has an understanding of its legal and corporate governance requirements and contribute to learning and development.
A strategic thinker, you will also have the opportunity to provide input in to team strategy and proactively identify opportunities for efficiency in the delivery of legal services.
About you and your experience:
To be successful in this role you will have experience practicing as a lawyer in a retail energy business with a strong working knowledge of the regulatory environment in which retail energy businesses operate paired with practical experience in negotiations. You hold a law degree, accompanied with eligibility to hold a legal practising certificate in Victoria.
An excellent communicator with a collaborative approach, you are able to build effective partnerships within your own team and across the Hydro Tasmania Group to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
You also have sound technical legal and drafting skills, and ideally experience with the governance framework for Government Business Enterprises or State Owned Entities.
