The Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) is an independent statutory body which acts to protect public health and safety by resolving, investigations and prosecuting complaints about health care. The Commission plays a central role in maintaining the integrity of the NSW health system and protecting the health and safety of individuals and the community across a diverse range of services.
About The Role
The Legal Officer role is responsible for the carriage of a varied and complex prosecution legal practice which would require the appearance as an advocate in appropriate matters and the ability to instruct Counsel. The role requires the ability to provide high quality legal and policy advice in an efficient manner.

The Essential Requirements Include
Australian lawyer eligible for a practising certificate in NSW
Experience managing a legal practice with competing timeframes (preferably in a prosecution area)
Knowledge, or the ability to acquire it, of relevant legislation concerning the delivery/provision of health services in NSW
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
The role requires a lawyer who is experienced in managing a varied and complex legal practice with competing timeframes. Skills as an advocate is highly desired. They will have highly developed communication skills, including the ability to write clear and high quality reports. They will be able to use their analytical abilities to solve problems and bring a collaborative and positive attitude to the team and the work.

Describe a situation where you had to provide high quality legal advice in a high volume environment and include the skills you used to provide it.
The selection process will include a comparative assessment to assist in determining your suitability for the role. This will include a behavioural based interview and online testing.
A talent pool may be created from this recruitment action for ongoing and temporary roles of the same work classification that may become available for filling over the next 12 months.
The successful applicant will be required to complete a Background Verification Check which includes a National Police Check (Criminal History) and qualification check.
