Central Coast Community Legal Centre is seeking full-time or part-time volunteers seeking to complete their practical legal training in a busy generalist practice that provides free legal services to people living, working or studying on the Central Coast.
Central Coast Community Legal Centre is based in Wyong, about 90 kms north of Sydney, which puts in you in easy reach of a mix of bays and inlets, pristine beaches, lakes and lush hinterland. There are so many things to see and do on the beautiful Central Coast when are not working with the people who live there with their legal matters.
During your placement with CCCLC you can expect to be exposed to a wide range of legal matters, including debt, fines, family, employment, discrimination, motor vehicle accidents, neighbour disputes, Apprehended Violence Orders and more!
You will gain experience in providing legal information and referral services, interviewing clients, attending outreach locations, drafting legal letters and court documents, undertaking legal research, developing community legal education materials, engaging in community development and participating in systemic advocacy.
Central Coast Community Legal Centre provides free legal advice to homeless people at Coast Shelter in Gosford; to disadvantaged people at Toukley Neighbourhood Centre; and to unrepresented litigants in AVO matters at Wyong Local Court. We also operate a Children’s Court Assistance Scheme that provides legal help to young people at Wyong, Woy Woy and Broadmeadow Children’s Courts.
