Judges and Associate Judges of the Supreme Court of Victoria are supported by staff who assist in the management and coordination of the Judge's judicial, ceremonial, court management, administrative and legal research responsibilities. Their staff act as personal and confidential aides, assisting with the efficient management of the Judge's court and chambers. AssociateJudges’ Associates work closely with the judiciary at the highest level in the State and are exposed to a range of work, both in and out of court. Being an associate provides a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience in the court environment, increase knowledge of court processes and procedures and observe the work of advocates and the judiciary, enabling a person to gain a thorough knowledge of court rules and become familiar with court documents and proceedings. Associate positions provide a unique opportunity to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the workings of the Court and as such are highly sought after and competitive. TipstaffSome Supreme Court Judges employ a Tipstaff who is not required to be legally qualified and provides extensive courtroom and administrative support to a Judge in his/her Chambers.
