What you’ll do:
Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for a legal counsel to lead our Legal function. This is a great opportunity for a lawyer looking to step up and join a fast-paced start-up. This will be a diverse and varied role where you will be working on a broad range of matters. In joining us at Assembly Payments you will find yourself involved in the following:
Drafting and negotiating customer, supplier and partnership agreements
Providing regulatory advice (Privacy Act, Spam Act, Corps Act, Competition and Consumer Act, AML/CTF Act)
Managing our risk and compliance team to implement policies for the business and reduce risk
Conducting internal training to educate the business on how to implement a robust legal and compliance framework
Working with external counsel and regulatory bodies
Assisting with corporate governance
Company secretarial responsibilities
Whom do we want:
This role will suit a FinTech enthusiast who enjoys working to high levels of autonomy, accountability and takes ownership of tasks while prioritising their workload. To be successful in this position you have been admitted as a lawyer in Australia and should have a minimum of five years PQE where you may have trained in a top tier firm. Financial services experience would be highly regarded. You will need to have an inquisitive mind and an aptitude for detail. Analytical thinking would ensure you can succeed in this role.
